    Hey Im trying to have a way so that my cms can have users register. Also so they can login and be able to view pages that is not accessible while not logged in? I haven’t found anyway to do this tho.

    Also is there a way We can integrate the users registering with the vbulletin forum. And still allow the registered users to have different permisions(being able to view a page a guest cant) .

    Is there also some sort of a news mod that I can have that will allow me to post news like this site "http://endless-naruto.com/" and then people can post comments about that particular news.

    One last thing Phew...

    Is there some sort of downloads mod that I can add downloads via the admin panel by linking to the downloads.. and then having a page setup so registered users can download?

        There isn’t a vbulletin bridge yet; feel free to make one.

        I wish I knew how to make one... I don’t even know where to start :/ But is there any forum that can be integerated with modx so that users can register on one of them then be able to use both the site’s restricted pages and the forum.. Without having to register twice?

          A search in the above Google Search bar of "forum bridge" will give you this as the first result:

          The Google Search bar really is quite effective.

            Hey I dont understannd the Ditto And Jot Thing.
            I have them with my modx And I know you have to put [[Ditto]] or [[Jot]] in the template for it to work? right?

            But This allows everyone to post comments and publish news. I only want admins to be able to publish news and members to be able to post comments..

              First of all, unless you are using the NewsPublisher snippet (which has many limits at this point), your news will have to be published/created in the manager so... only "admins" will have access to this and thus only "admins" will have publishing permissions.

              Ditto does many things. It displays news or blog articles, it lists items in an online store, it can aggregate a cluster of contents from a multitude of other site documents, output RSS XML feeds, output JSON, about the only things it won’t do is create the content for you, do the dishes and take a piss for you grin.

              Jot does comments (primarily). It has many configuration parameters including who can post, who can read, who can moderate, it handles subscriptions to items, and you can even output the entire Jot comment system as several placeholders so that comments, subscriptions, and forms can be displayed in any way possible, limited only by your imagination.

              I suggest you take a look at the Jot parameters to see what it can do for you, and while we are at it, here is some info on Ditto.

                OK thnx but What I’m trying to do is only suppose to show on the index page..

                I Want the index page to have news that admins publish So it looks like this

                Title for Article
                Posted By Author on Date
                <hr> (HTML Tag)
                Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text Article Text
                Post a Comment (x)

                Where "x" is the amount of comments for that article.

                Is there a way I can do this? If so how exactly..

                Also I cant find an area in the manager where I can publish news.

                  I have done a few blogs with commenting using modx
                  My personal site uses Ditto for aggregating blogs on the home page and jot for comments.
                  I have a chunk template for Ditto that sets a link to the article as the date, followed by the title of the article, then I use a Jot call with the Jot action "count-comments" to display the number of comments for each article.
                  You can see an example at http://scottydelicious.com and you will notice that each article that is being aggregated has "(x) comments." along the top.

                  here is the code I put into a chunk called "dittoTpl":
                  <div class="ditto_summary">
                  	<div class="ditto_head">
                      	<h3><a href="[~[+id+]~]">[+date+]</a> : [+title+]</h3>
                      	<div class="commentCount">
                  			<a href="[~[+id+]~]#pageComments">
                  				[[Jot? &docid=`[+id+]` &action=`count-comments`]] comments.
                  			</a>
                  		</div>
                  		[[tagLinks? &id=`[+id+]` &tv=`tags` &separator=`, ` &fap=`1` &path=`categories` &label=`Tags: ` &style=`dittoTags`]]
                  	</div>
                     <div class="ditto_content">
                  		[+summary+]<br />
                                  <a href="[~[+id+]~]#pageCommentsForm">Add a comment...</a>
                  	</div>
                  </div>

                  Then in my index page, I have:
                  [!Ditto? &tpl=`dittoTpl` &startID=`2` &summarize=`7` &dateFormat=`%B %d, %Y`!]

                  I also use the tagLinks snippet to organize my tags, you can disregard that bit if you don’t use it, or customized to fit your situation if you would like to use tagLinks. There are instructions for the tagLinks snippit in "Tagged blogging with Ditto".

                  Is this what you are trying to do?

                      The only so called "error" I see is that It cannot find any documents.
                      Here is what you need to do:
                      1: My blog entries are under document id 2 called blog. In my manager tree, it looks like this: Blog(2).
                      So you need to find out which document your articles are published under.

                      2: In my Ditto call, I have the &startID parameter set to `2` which means aggregate all the children of
                      the document with ID 2 (in my case the page called "Blog" and display them. If document 2 does not
                      have any children, or document 2 does not exist, you will get the error "No entries found".

                      3: Make sure you have child documents under document 2 if you still have the &startID parameter set to
                      `2`, OR set the startID parameter to the actual document you have your items stored in. for the root
                      of your MODx site choose`0`.
