I have done a few blogs with commenting using modx
My personal site uses Ditto for aggregating blogs on the home page and jot for comments.
I have a chunk template for Ditto that sets a link to the article as the date, followed by the title of the article, then I use a Jot call with the Jot action "count-comments" to display the number of comments for each article.
You can see an example at
http://scottydelicious.com and you will notice that each article that is being aggregated has "(x) comments." along the top.
here is the code I put into a chunk called "dittoTpl":
<div class="ditto_summary">
<div class="ditto_head">
<h3><a href="[~[+id+]~]">[+date+]</a> : [+title+]</h3>
<div class="commentCount">
<a href="[~[+id+]~]#pageComments">
[[Jot? &docid=`[+id+]` &action=`count-comments`]] comments.
</a>
</div>
[[tagLinks? &id=`[+id+]` &tv=`tags` &separator=`, ` &fap=`1` &path=`categories` &label=`Tags: ` &style=`dittoTags`]]
</div>
<div class="ditto_content">
[+summary+]<br />
<a href="[~[+id+]~]#pageCommentsForm">Add a comment...</a>
</div>
</div>
Then in my index page, I have:
[!Ditto? &tpl=`dittoTpl` &startID=`2` &summarize=`7` &dateFormat=`%B %d, %Y`!]
I also use the
tagLinks snippet to organize my tags, you can disregard that bit if you don’t use it, or customized to fit your situation if you would like to use tagLinks. There are instructions for the tagLinks snippit in "
Tagged blogging with Ditto".
Is this what you are trying to do?
I am an open-source, idea sharing kind of guy, so if this helps, feel free to use it.
