Got the quick edit toolbar working in IE7. However, the top menu in IE7 doesn’t seem to be working properly. The tabs, when you click them, seem to cause the frame content to shoot up the frame. You can get back to them by dragging your mouse in the frame to get the tabs back into view.

Can anyone else confirm this? Is there a fix?

    Thanks!

      Datagrid Woes:
I tried the upgrade today. It seemed to run OK. Then I brought my site up, and it looked OK at first.

But then I tried viewing pages that used GETs to display database data via a Template Variable w/Datagrid, and these were broken. I got the Datagrid to display OK, but always the "no data found" message, although the table was fine. Thrashing around, after looking here I got rid of Template Switcher, and tried clearing the cache, no luck.

In fact, I have made mods to the Datagrid. Specifically, I changed datagrid.class.php, both bugfixes and mods, and a bugfix in tmplvars.format.inc.php related to Datagrid. Restoring my versions of these did not help.

So not wanting to be down all day, I restored the old version and all is working again. I realize that modifications can cause problems in an upgrade situation, but I thought I had taken enough precautions. So there’s a little warning to other Datagrid users/modders.

Essentially something in the core tied to Datagrid changed enough to wack me out. Probably my first place of research will be document.parser.class.inc.php, which contains a whole lot of important stuff. I had had version 9.2.2, and doing a code compare I see LOTS of differences. Maybe I’ll find it quickly, but that’s unclear, and could be a big hunt.

Interesting Admin theme replacements - maybe not quite as slow as what I have. But it’s disconcerting when you see a whole different screen, and things like "Administration" aren’t there, especially when you’ve just updated your site and are checking things. I did have a testbed on my other host, but recently moved, so I guess I’ll make another version I can destroy at my leisure!

Last question - how critical is the 9.5 upgrade? I’m sure there are bugfixes galore, but how about your opinion of importance, say, from 1 to 10, 10 being Really Really Important.

      Thanks.

        095 is probably a 7 or 8. 096 a 9 or 10 (soon).

You might consider submitting your changes to the components to see if they make sense to incorporate in the general distribution.

          Ryan,
Good point, and thanks for the info. Sorry to sound like a pissant, the fact is, I just really stepped on myself. I was thinking something like "how big could it be?", always dangerous.

I know that this sort of thing is the "price" you pay for so much free software, as it were. And if I need a change right away, I can’t always wait for someone else to fix it, but then I’m at risk of breaking something else later.

I had actually published my fixes on the forum, but that’s not really official. I will look around next time and find the official channel.

One of the changes was a bugfix, which I think WAS actually fixed by Gary in the new release - the "broken URL’s in a datagrid cell" problem. Some of my mods were not publishable; things that allowed the Datagrid columns to be re-sorted, for instance, but relied on some hard-coding of table fieldnames - I didn’t have time to generalize it. You know how that goes. Similar to code already in MakeTable, but when I tried to mod that, I had a good deal of trouble.

I’ll just do a whole lot of "playing" on a testbed before doing an upgrade. Especially 1.0. grin I’ve been spoiled on so many things working great, not to mention being able to test most things invisibly on a live site.

          Thanks!

            Datagrid update....
I just did some more leisurely testing with 0.9.5, and Datagrid truly looks pretty wacked out. I tried a really simple @SELECT binding, right from the documentation, and got bizarre output, like all the lines squished together, and then my column names and field names were blasted (I found this when I went back in to edit the Template Variable). Looks like memory run amok or something.

I switched over to the Delimited List widget using the same @SELECT, and that worked just great.

Gee, I wonder if anyone actually tried using the Datagrid with 0.9.5? grin

If I have time (unlikely anytime soon), maybe I’ll try to track this down.

Update: after looking at the bug database (something I should do more often), I see that there are problems with using EVAL (which sound similar to my own EVAL testing), and also an issue with formatting columns. I think Raymond may be too busy to work on this(?).

After upgrading to 0.9.5 I had an issue that really isn’t a bug and probably doesn’t affect many people but I thought I should post it here in case someone else runs into the same problem.

If you are experiencing this problem please leave a short comment letting us know. If it affects more than just a few we should probably implement a permanent solution.

              Problem:
Bad URLs are sent to the login page or homepage instead of the 404 page (affects non-numeric URLs only).

              Reason:
Because of reasons I wont get into, a NULL value in the site_content.alias field makes MODx think a non existent page actually exists.

              Solution:
Run this SQL code in your MODx database using phpMyAdmin or some other mysql client (replace [prefix] with the table prefix for your installation).
              UPDATE [prefix]site_content SET alias = '' WHERE alias IS NULL;

I tried using the solution provided above to fix the problem of not showing the error message. I only have one database and all my modx tables start with "modx_" I ran the code, then typed in www.skateshoereview.org/nothere.html and I also tried www.skateshoereview.org/31337.html (both are files that do not exsist on the server) but it still takes me to the homepage. Am I missing something here?

I have seen already 2 strange problems:

                1. Calendar doesn’t work in Firefox (when I want to change publish date). It open’s, I choose the date, but then, when calendar closes, the form input field is still empty. I’ve seen it on 2 different computers, but I’ve heard that it works at my friend’s computer. Maybe different versions of Firefox?

                2. Really weird one. If I change TV on data which has been saved earlier by Save form data (Firefox default function), then it won’t save. If I enter new data, then it will save. If I empty saved form data in Firefox and then enter data again, it will save. And there is no such problem with Quickedit. Only with the manager.

I can confirm your problem #2 as of 0.9.5 on all browsers I tested (IE6, IE7, and Firefox on XP and Safari and Firefox on OSX). I haven’t tested it thoroughly with 0.9.6 yet to see if it’s been squashed. This happens with regular text field TVs with no widgets or anything special whenever the browser gives you a pop-up to auto-fill in text that has been entered previously.

                      A weird one...

Upgraded nicely to 0.9.5 rev 2106 some time ago. Sites running fine on host Network Solutions.

Now Sunday night suddenly all css files are missing and I see base_url is pointing to some strange position. We did not do any work on the site! (maybe Network SOlutions on php or MySQL but that I do not know)

I hardcoded new path to asset folder for css and site is now running again. But... snippets also use base_url I assume, so I am afraid I will run into more problems...

Anyone know how, how base_url got changed ? How to set it back? How to prevent from changing again?
