Slowly Building Site - Open for Suggestions

My first MODx site is coming along - slowly.

I got the "look" I wanted and am starting to work on the content and using chunks and snippets to reduce some of the code.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I know I haven’t used chunks or snippets effectively and could greatly reduce the size of my template file in the Manager. I’d like to make it a "clean" as possible. So, before I built too much incorrectly, I thought I would see if anyone has any suggestions.

-inline menu for template header
-search for template header
-random image snippet for template header
-random quote snippet for template header
-event calendar snippet for left column above Recent Posts
-login/registration for left column
-snippets to list recent posts, categories, archives on left column
-blog module for content - display post title, post date, post author, post content, list category tags, list number of comments
Photo Page
-use maxi gallery for photo albums
Music Page
-use Wimpy player to play mp3’s
Forum
-create forum (this is last on my list)
Contact Page
-create contact page

I’ve tried looking at your template, but the test admin you created doesn’t have any permissions so I can’t see much.
The search can be done easily with FlexSearch, I haven’t seen random image/quotes snippets yet, but perhaps there are some.

For most of the things you’ve listed here all you have to do is go to the resources, install the snippets and try them out, most of the things on your list are quite easy to do and quite a few are also have examples. Goodluck.

Thanks for looking. I’ll adjust the guest user. I wasn’t sure what to allow, so went with the defaults.

I’m tackling them one at a time. I actually added the AjaxSearch snippet, but it’s not displayed. I tried removing the intro text and messed something up. But I haven’t given up yet.

I believe I found your Ditto template in looking through the forums for Ditto help. Might have to chuck mine for your template. Very clean and cool looking!
