Hello,
I have developing my first site in MODX and trying to figure out a couple of things. I need to develop a section with the following functionality:
1. The site administrator can add/edit/delete client accounts
2. The site admin then uploads images to each client account
3. The clients can then login to their account and view the images
Can this be done in MODX or should I go for a standalone application?
What is the best way to implement this in MODX? What modules/snippets should I develop? What should be the work flow of this application?
I have a couple of years of PHP coding experience and can code the above application without any problems. But I can’ figure out how to make best use of MODX resources.
Thanks,
Jatinder Thind
for do thing like that i think you need to create a external table for images whith his urls and whith the username and before you can do all you want, i think modx is a great thing for programmers because his flexibility, and if you know php have the half road walked
Hello,
Thanks for the input. Can you point me to some resource that will help me with this? Can you recommend some module whose code I can study?
Thanks,
Jatinder
Actually, if I’m understanding you correctly, it sounds to me as if you’re just talking about setting up a system that uses web users, which is pretty easy to do using MODx and requires no modules and only the standard web login snippet:
http://modxcms.com/web-users-web-groups.html
If that is what you need to do, then you’ve hit pay dirt with MODx because it’s already been done for you...
You might also want to use MaxiGallery to manage and display the images, or you might be happy just inserting them using the Rich Text Editor.
I’m actually very new to this too, but I think you could also do it using a template variable. This way you have better control on where the picture is showing up on your template. Also the image can be modified more easily as it is separated from anything else. And you can control if you want to show it as an image or as a link.
