    Hello

    i have installed the new modx , a clean install.

    i was making a new snippet and when i saved it and re-opened it i noticed that the snippet has changed certain characters into html coded characters/

    so an & has become & for exmple.

    anyone else getting this? - or is it just me? it’s very annoying.

    cheers

      The RTE (either TinyMCE or FCKeditor) is doing that. You can set the default editor to "None" in your system configuration if this is a real problem for you.

        Hello Dr Scott

        i thought that might be what it was ,turned off the RTE and it is still doing it

        this means when ever i view any snippet it changes all characters into HTML coded characters (even > < etc)

        which is really annoying when going back to edit PHP code.

        anyone else know what could be causing this?

            This is really peculiar as I didn’t think the snippet edirot had an RTE - just the document editor?

            You could try installing another copy in a different dir and see if it still happens? At least it’d rule something out...

              still getting this problem. which is rather annoying as it sort of makes editing php code impossible.

              any ideas?

                grahoom,
                I’m not sure what is causing your problem, but you could just save your snippet as a file and then upload it to your server. Then in MODx set the snippet to something like

                <?php
                return include 'assets/snippets/mysnippet/mysnippet.php';
                ?>

                It might get you around the issue you are having.

                  Hello kylej - thanks for that.

                  that’s very handy.

                  but i have to say, for some reason it all seems ok now - not entirely sure why it has fixed itself, but i am not going to question that - as now i can edit snippets fine! - one of those ghost in the machine type situations!

                    actually, I had exactly same problem the other day.. when I saved any snippet, it did that html entities conversion to it.. I cannot remember why it was, it might have happened when I used Konqueror web browser, or then it just started working by itself.. anyways, just posting this so grahoom wont look like a crazy person grin

                      kind sentiments Doze! - but i think it’s going to take more than that to stop me looking like a crazy person! grin

                      but i am glad someone else has experiences the same thing, i thought i was loosing it a bit there! - i did download a newer version of firefox, so that might very well be the fix to the problem.
