    Hi,

I am new to modx and I am trying out the new 0.9.5 .

I would like to create a SiteManager who can create new documents and edit existing documents only, nothing else.

I created a new role with everything under the Categories "General" and "Content management" checked, everything else unchecked.

Then created a new Manager User, with that new User’s role selected.

Then logged in under the new Manager User, I can change edit and save existing documents.

But I cannot create "New Document" and "New Weblink". It would have a message saying "You do not have the correct permissions for this document."

All document however have "Public" access setting.

Another thing is, there is no "QuickEdit" appear from the webpage when I log in with that role.

I do get all the about mentioned privileges when I log in as admin, the Built-in Administration account.

What did I do wrong here?

Thank you all in advance. Much appreciated.

For QuickEdit you need to allow the "Run Modules".

For new doc/weblink, in Tools -> Configuration -> User, select "Yes" for "Allow root:"

      hope this helps.

      regards.

It works. Thanks very much. laugh

I am wondering, why the double settings. What is the concept behind the need to set both the "allow root" and checking "Create new documents" under Roles? It seems there is a duplication or double-gate here.

        Thanks.

Its a simple concept as per my interpretation:

I have a site and few users also, they are not so literate as I am or I need to approve the content they are adding/editing, I simply make them ftp accounts and have them their separate directories, because main site is in "root", only approved things will go there, no interruption into live site.

Its only one example of using this "double setting" wink ...

Hope this makes sense .. smiley
