Hello all.
I wonder if anyone can assist by pointing me in the right direction, either with some examples or documentation...
I have successfully installed the latest version of Modx on my server and have been playing around with my new "demo" site to get a feel for the capabilities of Modx. So far, I love the ease of use and functionality. I do have some previous experience with installing several other different CMS systems, but for some reason I’m having difficulty figuring out how to make Modx do what I want it to do.
I would like for the "default" functionality of my site to be non-interactive for the majority of site visitors... meaning, the site will pretty much be "read only" to any/all public users, not requiring a login. I will have 3-4 users (including myself) who will be able to add/remove/edit content, so they should have access to the Manager backend and/or ability to use QuickEdit. But, all other users should simply be able to see all of the "public" areas of the site. I don’t want the QuickEdit toolbar to be visible or functional for anyone but the 3-4 registered users.
I have been reading through some of the online documentation of Modx and also these forums, but cannot seem to grasp how to do this. I know it has something to do with user groups, document groups, and obviously user permissions. Modx is new to me, but I think I can probably get a handle on it if someone could point me in the right direction...
If it helps, I am planning to use Modx to replace an existing site that was built with standard HTML pages. I currently have a few "bells & whistles" such as CSS based dropdown lists, an image fader, and a text scroller, but now that I see the power of Modx, I am considering switching to Modx. I am planning on changing web hosts by the end of the year, so I figured now was as good a time as any to give my site an "extreme website makeover," opting for a site powered by Modx.
Thanks in advance...

Well, there’s really nothing to do. You just create manager users with an appropriate Role (which defines a set of permissions for the management interface), and they will have access to the QuickEdit toolbar as long as they are logged into their MODx manager user session. QuickEdit will not appear for anonymous users.
