    I did not know where to put this, so I just chose this one. I figured that since scriptaculous is integrated into ModX, no one will complain.

    I have already posted this in google group for scriptaculous!

    So here is the effect I’m trying to get and the problem:

    <div id="bannerbox">
    <div><a href="#" onClick="new Effect.SlideDown(’whatishu’, { duration: 3.0 });"> What is HU? </a> </div>
    <div id="whatishu" style="display:none;"><p>HU is a Love song to God. It is a spiritually charged word or mantra that anyone may use to further their spiritual growth and to better understand their relationship with God. </p></div>
    </div>

    The link is close to the bottom of the page, so I have to scroll down once the page loads to see it. On clicking the link, the page scrolls all the way back to the top of the page and I have to scroll back down to see the displayed contents.
    This happens with Effect.Appear and Effect.SlideDown

    I’m using version 1.6.4

    Any ideas why?

    TIA

      Just noticed that the effect plays out just fine in Konqueror, but not in Netscape-8 or FF

          On Windows 2000 with FF-2 and Netscape-8, and FF on Linux. Like I wrote in the second post, the effects work ok in Konqueror

              Hi,

              I’m not at all js expert so I could be totally wrong.
              But your issue could come from the href="#".
              Browser may intepret it as an anchor and send to the top of the page.
              I guess you should embed your effect in a function which also disables the link.

              :-)

                URL of the page please ?

                You shoud try use "javascript:void(0)" instead of "#"
                But this could also be a problem with your CSS...

                  href="#" was the problem and "javascript:void(0)" solved it. The effect now works as desired on FF (Windows and Linux), Netscape-8 and Konqueror.

                  Next is to queue my effects and produce some cool stuff.

                  Thank you all.

                    The final code now reads:

                    <div id="bannerbox">
                    <div><a href="javascript:void(0)" onClick="new Effect.SlideDown(’whatishu’, { duration: 3.0 });"> What is HU? </a> </div>
                    <div id="whatishu" style="display:none;"><p>HU is a Love song to God. It is a spiritually charged word or mantra that anyone may use to further their spiritual growth and to better understand their relationship with God. </p></div>
                    </div>

                    Thanks, again

                      Boby has provided a nice method to use those effects upon page load smiley
