    After upgrading to 0.9.5, the folders don’t seem to work for me anymore. Documents can no longer be found in news/news1.html. Instead, they are accessible if I request them without the folder (just news1.html). ModX is installed within a subfolder on the server, but since this has never been a problem for the 0.9.2.2-distribution, I guess I’m missing something here. I’d appreciate any help!

    System is a Suse Linux 9.3 with Apache 2.0.53 & mod_rewrite enabled.
    PHP version is 4.3.10.

      In your Manager’s Configuration page, click on the Friendly URL’s tab and make sure "Use friendly alias path" is set to "Yes".

      That’s the only thing I can think it might be, unless the .htaccess file is different between the two versions. You might need to check the new one and see if there’s anything different in the rewrite line.

        Thanks for the quick reply. I’m afraid "Use friendly alias path" is activated. And I have tried both .htaccess files, the 0.9.2.2 and the 0.9.5.5 for the new installation. Both don’t work. I print_r’ed $_REQUEST, and it seems as though the $_REQUEST[’q’] is just the standard news/news1.html. I’m wondering if the problem has something to do with the fact that ModX is installed within a folder on the server itself.

          That may well be it, but if your .htaccess rewritebase is set as that folder’s name it should work.

            It is - and as I said: It was not a problem with 0.9.2.2. I also noticed that QuickEdit has no CSS in folders, there is definitely something wrong with the way my installation handles them. Plus I don’t think it’s a .htaccess problem because I do see an empty template, navi etc, which is standard-behaviour for error-pages right now. So .htaccess, I guess, works, redirects to index.php, but then index.php gets confused with the folder-structure. But I may be completely wrong, of course.

              That’s most peculiar... Oh well, sorry I couldn’t help. Those were the most logical things I thought it might be but it sounds as though it’s something a bit more complex and out of my league.

              Hopefully one of the other guys around here will be able to help. Hope you get is sorted soon!

                Well... thanks Pete. Is anybody out there who has experienced similar problems and maybe... has a solution? What I think this basically goes down to is that the "Use friendly alias path"-option doesn’t work for me.

                UPDTAE: It works if modx is installed in the main-directory. Still... that’s not the solution in my case. Any help appreciated!

                  <base href="[(site_url)]" /> after the opening HEAD tag in your template will solve that...

                    Thank you... but it doesn’t.

                    If you want to take a look at it (this is a page under construction): http://85.214.76.210/tobrand/news/news2.html
                    The document with the alias news2 resides within a container news. news2 is accessible via

                      You have double /tobrands/ in your base href and your links to your JS and CSS in your head:

                      <base href="http://85.214.76.210/tobrand/" />
                      ...
                      <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/tobrand/style.css" />
                      <script src="/tobrand/_inc/chrisdomroll.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

                      That most likely should be (not the removal of /tobrand/ in your CSS/JS calls):
                      <base href="http://85.214.76.210/tobrand/" />
                      ...
                      <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css" />
                      <script src="_inc/chrisdomroll.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

                      Further, your .htaccess should most likely include the following (not the addition of tobrand/ on 2nd line):
                      RewriteEngine On
                      RewriteBase /tobrand/
                      RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
                      RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
                      RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
