    1) I have six files within a document folder. One is showing up at the top of the list when it should be at the bottom. When I try to move it, the only thing it lets me do is put it into another folder. How do I move this document down to where I want it within the list so that it appears in the menu in the correct place. How do I move a file within a folder?

    Document tree
    Folder Our Services(3)
    Club House (21)
    Counseling Services (13)
    Medical Services (14)
    Emergency Services (15)
    Specialized Services (16)
    Residential Programs (17)

I want Club House Under Residential Programs.
    2) Is there a documented source of Step by step to use Modx ?

    Thanks, Marie

What version of MODx you are using?

And, for sorting there is a "menu index" field (on editing screen), you need to number each document accrodingly.

Found it. The Menu index number for some reason was not displaying the index number that was assigned to the page. When I went into edit mode, I could see the correct index number. Marie

There are other easy ways to sort them also, if you are using 095, if not I recommend upgrading. http://modxcms.com/download.html

In 095 we introduced new "DocManager" module (Modules -> DocManager) which has nice drag-n-drop sorting capabilities out of the box, quite handy.

Not only this, it offers much more e.g. bulk template change, author changing, dates manipulation and list goes on.
