    Hi

Have been trying to usr the Friendly url setting... as usual i get the 404 error page (the site works fine without Friendly url turned on)

Yes, I have tried the whole forum... read through anything in the forum related to Friendly url.. well cant get it to work...

    these are my configuration
    MODx-095rc3-rev2066
    Apache 2.0.55
    PHP 5.1.6
    MySQL 5.0.24
    OS: Ubuntu (Edgy Eft)

I have installed modx as directory inside /var/www/

So i guess the configuration for .htaccess should be

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /modx
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /modx/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA,NC]

For the configuration on the Friendly url page.... i have tried different combination.... still not working

Hmm ya my apache2 mod_rewrite is set to ON

well i would really appreciate if someone would point me to the right direction

Well modx rocks (except for FRUL’s apart)

    Thanks in Advance

      Don’t duplicate /modx on 2 lines.

      regards.

btw: MODx rocks! with FURL’s! tongue

        Thanks for replying

I have corrected .htaccess as you said

        still 404 not found

        FRUL configuration

        Use friendly URL : Yes
Prefix for friendly URL : Blank
Suffix for friendly URL : .html
        Use friendly Aliases : Yes
Use friendly Aliases Path : Yes
        Allow Duplicate Alias : No
        Automatically generate Aliases : No

What error message is showing up in your browser, and did you actually rename the file from ht.access -> .htaccess (silly I know but had to ask).

Renaming the file from ht.access to .htaccess was the first thing I did after installation

I do get the main page by going to
http://localhost/modx/(aliasname).html where aliasname is the alias for each page
but once i click on the navigation links.. this is the error that i get

            Not Found

The requested URL /modx/(alias name).html was not found on this server.

It seems that Apache mod_rewrite is not enabled, what package are you using? XAMPP?

If XAMPP, search for mod_rewrite in /xampp/apache/conf/httpd.cnf , the line (may be) looks like:
              #LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

              Change it to:
              LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

              Hope it helps.

              regards.
