    I feel foolish here.

    I’ve managed to install:

    1. MODx.
    2. SMF
    3. SMF Connector

I just cannot seem to figure out how to put a link on the basic menu (default setup) to take users to the SMF pages (/website/smf)

When editing the "weblink" I’d created as a document I have the following variables:

    Title Forums
Long title Forums Long Title (original eh!?)
    Description The Forums
    Document’s alias forums
    Weblink http://www.hostwebsite.com/website/smf/index.htm
    Uses template
    Menu title Forums(test)

Now the menu item shows up.

But a preview of the item just shows it as, in plain text, on a white background:

    http://www.hostwebsite.com/website/smf/index.htm

Any suggestions? I have tried searching this site and google for combinations of "menu, weblink, link" along with modx without luck.

A starting point would be appreciated.

At this stage I feel silly.

Preview window is only meant for "Preview", you should check the actual website in frontend and see if link works fine.

      Hope this helps.

Sorry - I meant it still looks the same.

Clicking on the link I’d created takes me to a page that looks exactly like the preview (url printed on white background).

            Guy,

I had the same problem after researching and driving others nuts they pointed me to this post. Do this edit and your weblinks should work again. Please note to back up your current file until you insure this is working, so you can put your original file back just in case.

I also think this fix has been entered to be in 0.9.5 so when you upgrade to that version when it’s released there shouldn’t be any problems.

            Good luck

              Thanks.

I ended up doing a reinstall (I’m just figuring things out here) and found the problem resolved itself.

I’m not sure what was different, so I’m putting it down to freak electrical interference during the upload process of the original files resulting in a breach in the time-space continuum.

I appreciate all the quick suggestions!

This type of support alone makes me happy I’ve started exploring ModX.
