    Hi,

I have installed ModX locally and am trying to basically make a clone of what I have on my web server.

I am getting the following apache error and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on configuring apache to work correctly with the .htaccess file settings?

[Thu Nov 30 12:17:33 2006] [alert] [client 127.0.0.1] D:/xx/.htaccess: Invalid command ’RewriteEngine’, perhaps mis-spelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration

    Thanks.

      What is your localhost setup?
Are you on Mac, Windows, or Linux?
Are you using a prebuilt server package like MAMP or XAMPP?
It sounds like Apache was compiled without mod_rewrite or cannot find the module to load.
check phpinfo() and your php.ini and httpd.conf files.

        I am using WAMP Server. ( http://www.wampserver.com/en/ )

I searched for mod_rewrite and just rewrite in my phpinfo() and could not find any reference to it.

But i found this in http.conf file.

        #LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

If i just remove the ’#’, should that be all I need to do?

        Thanks.

One of the coolest thing about a local test environment is that you can try stuff and see if it works (it should I think, but you’ll need to probably restart your webserver locally, too).
