Does CMSMadeSimple has anything to do with MODx?

I play with lots of CMS lately and today is CMSMadeSimple. This is a CMS that is quite similar to MODx, is there any ’historical’ relationship for both?

I heard that there are 2 forks for Etomite, one being MODx, which is the other one?

CMS Made Simple is not an etomite fork, no.

As for similarities, I have already pointed out a few times how MODx is similar to CMS MS and to Textpattern in some respect...

You can also read a quite longer post and detailed comparison I had made on textpattern’s forum a while ago.

Other that being easily templatable and modular, it doesn’t share (to my knowledge) any codebase.

Haha, I like your comparisons. The reason I tried out textpattern and cmsmadesimple today is because I read your post on "What You Use Before MODx"

The other one was etomite-ng, I followed it for a short time, but MODx looked way more promising. Currently the etomite-ng project seems to be dead. All I could find was the following page http://osx.freshmeat.net/projects/etomiteng/
