You know what would be the absolute bees knees? To have MODx work with vBulletin. I have been messing with the code, but I am a wannabe and do not know where to start. I was told if I ask nicely, somebody could help get it going.

If that is the case, I would be very happy, and so would a lot of vB users.

    So what do you say?

The biggest issue you will face is that vBulletin costs money, and although it’s not a lot of money, the only people who will be able to give hands-on help will be people who for whatever reason need vBulletin integration themselves. I personally have zero interest in this. I would, however, be very interested to know what you like about vBulletin, particularly in comparison to http://bbpress.org/ which is currently my favourite forum software (until Jot’s sibling gets born).
No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.

I own both a vB and IPB license, and have donated three vB licenses to friends. So there is some incentive on why we would like to integrate them.

As for why I like vB? A huge number of mods commercial or otherwise, huge fan base, good support, ease of upgrades despite number of mods installed, a wide range of canned themes.... the list goes on and on. Yeah, there are downsides. The biggest is the HHHUUUUUUGGGEEEE size.

I never tried bbpress before, but will take a look at it.

Lastly, if you are not interested, why bother? I would like some direction.

PS: I just looked at bbpress. Looks like it has a lot of promise. I will download and test it. Thank you for the link.

I think the best chance of getting an integration done is to just sit down and start hashing it out with your group of friends. If you get stuck at certain points, ask specific questions here in the forums.

You could use the SMF Module as a starting point for getting things going. Or maybe Raymond will post up his IPB Module code to use as a starting point.

That’s true... you’ll find lots of help on the MODx side of things and generic integration advice here, but the vBulletin side of things you’ll have to figure out yourself - including deciding where you start and stop with the integration.

Also read through: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,6692.0.html (Quick and dirty integration with Vanilla?)
and search the web for anyone else’s vBulletin / CMS integration for ideas.
