    Hi,

I’m moving our organisation web site over to MODx in the near future, and we have a number of bespoke web-based applications that members of association can access securely (we’re an industry licensing body, this can potentially include a fair bit of personal information).

What I am wondering is ... How should I integrate these apps (all just PHP scripts) with MODx...

Initially there will be links to the existing scripts, however I’d like to integrate it with MODx in a better way and I’m curious to know what suggestions people will make... I’m assuming it’ll probably be best to rewrite the apps as snippets for MODx (yet to look at how they handle POST/GET data) and use MODx’s built in Web Users database (after migrating the existing users of course) leaving MODx to take care of authentication?

Anyway, new to MODx and open to suggestions smiley

You are probably better off keeping your existing user databases; Web Users isn’t great and it is scheduled for a big change soon.

Also, bear in mind that you can include PHP files from your snippets, so you may find that a lot of functions and classes that you already have can be reused easily.

Finally, look at a range of snippets, as different programmers have different ways of handling the POST/GET stuff. Also, note that some prefer to have one CMS page that detects whether to show a form or process a form, and others prefer to have a page for the form and a page for the processing. How you achieve this will probably depend on how much you need the URLs to stay the same (although note that there are many ways of keeping them working).
No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.
