Hello, I was trying to add couple more styles to FCK by editing it’s "fckstyles.xml" file - but they won’t appear on "Styles" panel.
Could anyone guide me to it?
Also if there are better Wysiwyg alternatives available on the markets - please share (I tried TinyMCE already).
Gleb
i think they must to show, is the xml well created? are the class created in your css, and if you want to class the dropdown styles you need to update too the css in the tree of the editor
Good call, xyzvisual. I just tested it out and editing the fckstyles.xml file should do fine. If it doesn’t...well...try downloading the latest version from the repository and reinstalling the plugin.
And as for better editors, the main two I endorse is FCKEditor and TinyMCE, with TinyMCE being my favorite. I’ll be working on others. I’ve already got a Xinha plugin on the repository...but it’s a little old and stale...not the best one in the world. I plan on messing with XStandard Lite but I’m not sure how far I’ll get with it. The next version of MODX (0.9.5) will be dropping FCKEditor as it’s default in favor of TinyMCE. Now, you’ll still be able to use FCKEditor....might require a plugin upgrade....but I think the new version of TinyMCE may surprise you.

thanks but i have a problem whith tinymce. when programing i use a lot of instances of a wysiwyg editor and couldent setup more than one instance at the same time in tinymce (y surf in the code, make two instances of the plugin but nothing works) and too i think it loose the custom toolbar freature in fckeditor whithout harcoding
Try the new version of the TinyMCE plugin (
http://www.modxcms.com/TinyMCE-2.0.8-1208.html). You can customize it now via the plugin configuration parameters in a somewhat similar way as FCKEditor. It’s only for the Full Theme but you should be able to customize the plugin quite a bit.

i think is well to know but i couldent change to tinymce while dont have suport for 2 or more instances.
i dont know if it is very dificult to add but myself couldent do in the attemps i do.
I use multiple instances all the time. It’s pretty common for me to have a few rich text template variables associated with a template. That means that more than one instance of TinyMCE would be loaded: one for the content and one each for any rich text template variables. How are you trying to utilize multiple instances? Is this within the manager? Or are you trying to load multiple instances via some TV’s using the rich text widget? Knowing this will be a great help.
