pulling text

hey can some one please tell me give me a php script that can pull text from a site and display it on my own site?

Pull text in what context? Like an RSS feed from another site? The text from a static page on another site? What do you want to do with it? Format it on your site, just display it as it was on the other site?

I want to pull it from a dynamic page as this piece of text updates and i just want to display it on my site as it is displayed on the other site.
when i say it updates its self its not rss or anything like that

??? Yes, context here is very important. Scraping content from other sites and presenting it on your own without permission is also a legal hornet’s nest, so I hope that’s not the context we’re talking about?? In my estimation, people that want to allow you to re-publish their content on your site will make that possible via RSS feeds or other standard approaches, but scraping sites typically is used for less than ethical purposes or in complex corporate portals where legacy technology prevents any other approach from being used. Is this dynamic page on another site that you own?

No i do not own this other site and i understand that it is illegal but we have emailed the company of this site and asked for permission we have another script that can take the images from the site and check the online status of people using this site and we are waiting for them to get back to us we will not use this on our site if they say no we are just doing this a pre thing [don’t no how to put it] so we can be prepared to put it on our site

There is a module+snippet combo for MODx to do this, but I think that it has not been posted to the repository yet. I’ll ask the author if he could do that. With it, you can use regexp mask for the content to "pull" from some other site to your site. There is a timer in the module to set when it should get the content etc, I think. Then there is a snippet to display the retrieved content.
