I created a new File and new folder in Admin interface.
File is HTML and has relative links to images - "picture/pic1.jpg", "picture/pic2.jpg" and so on.
How can i upload files into this folder? I think I am missing obvious - but cannot see this facility.
I cannot use FTP because as far as I can see - this is "logical" folder, not the physical one.

That "folder" is only a document that can have "child" documents. Otherwise, it is no different than any other document, it only serves to hold the main content of that web page.
Your files (I presume these would be your image files) would go in assets/images, and be linked to with appropriate <img... /> tags. If you are using a Rich Text editor, it will have an image button on its toolbar. You can use that to upload an image, as well as attach an image to the page.
Oh, thats a bummer.
Well - here’s where I am coming from - maybe you can guide me to light.
I have a few DOC’s, converted to HTML’s. The Way microsoft did it - is created HTML files and all related images are in directory relative to the location of HTML file. Sort of:
Tutorial.html - all text with embedded CSS and relative links to images.
<Tutorial_files> - all images.
So here I have ModX site running with a simple template. My idea was to create new Document, paste HTML code there and then create directory (or Folder) and copy all images into there.
As far as I can understand now - my idea above won’t work because of "virtual" nature of directories. Although I do not want to "retype" all image links either, because these lengthy HTML docs are all mess inside.
So hereby my question - how can I utilize existing HTML files and it’s directories with images with ModX?

use a simply find and replace and change all your images path to assets/images
