Hi, I’ve only recently started using modx and CMS’s in general. I like what I’ve seen so far but I need a few answers to some questions posed by a potential client.

    1. When publishing news articles is it possible to have summeries of the first paragraph of the two most recent articles displayed on the homepage with the title and date linking to the main articles. Then when a new article is published this will be automatically updated?

    2. I know user polls are available with the Polls Module but the potential client is also looking for surveys where the admin can set up a survey with predefined answers. They also want the data captured to be exportable to excel or similar. They wouls also like the data to be presented in attractive graphs/tables/reports. Is any of this possible?

    3. They want a password protected area that there members can login to. any ideas?

Sorry for the stoopid questions - just can’t find out to much info about it. Thanks a million for any help grin

    Cliff.

      1. See Ditto for summaries etc.

      2. Surveys are possible, attractive graphs are possible... but to the best of my knowledge no-one’s written these things for MODx yet. How much of a programmer are you?

      3. Users can login and see pages only their group can see. That’s in there already.

Please do look at the documentation, and search the forums.
No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.

        Hey Paul,

Thanks for your swift response! Had a closer look at Ditto and it looks like it’s exactly what I need for the news articles alright.

I’m no programmer! Just frontend design, xhtml, css maybe a sprinkling of php - if the client wants to go ahead with surveys and fancy graphs I’ll can get our programmers on the case!

I read up on the web users/web user groups documentation - that looks great.

Again, sorry for the noob questions - just diddn’t really know where to start! huh

        Thanks for you time, cliff.
