    Hi Forum!

    I’ve got a problem changing/editing pictures from the front end (0.9.5 beta 5), wonder if I missed a setting somewhere?

    My template contains this:

    <img src="[*#picture*]" alt="[*#alt-text*]" />

    alt-text is a TV with type text
    picture is a TV with type image

    When viewing the main page from the front end, after logging in to the manager, I can edit the alt-text template variable. That comes up nicely with a little grey button saying "Edit alt-text" which opens a pop up editor.

    The picture does not however. It doesn’t even show (this is only when I’m logged on as manager, it shows fine to the general public). Instead of a picture, I see exactly this text (assuming the alt-text is "tweedelidum"):

    « Edit picturehttp://mysite.com/assets/images/the_picture.jpg" alt="« Edit alt-texttweedelidum" />

    And there appears to be nothing to click on to edit/change the picture.

    This behaviour was there before I upgraded to 0.9.5 so it doesn’ seem to be a beta-bug or something.

    Any clues here? Or is this somehow by design?

      Do you need the "clickable" edit function?

      Otherwise try:

      <img src="[*picture*]" alt="[*alt-text*]" />

        Hi!

        Well you’re right - that does make the picture show up even when logged on. I tried removing the # from picture only but the alt-text still came up as the code showing the TV so I had to remove # from both picture and alt-text.

        It’s a workaround of course and I suppose I can live with it. But I’m trying to limit access to the backend for editors, ideally they should have none at all. I would prefer them to logon to the manager page, then get immediately re-routed to their first editable page with click-buttons for everything they can edit. In my case they are translators so I will give them a set of copies of English pages where they need to change everything to their language - no need to create new pages etc. They do need to change the alt-text of images though and in some cases they might need to upload language-specific images.

        Just wondered what the reason might be for the click-edit not working with a picture. Have tried Firefox, Opera and IE, several versions but same behaviour everywhere (before and after updating to 0.9.5).
