I use smoothgallery and call a snippet on the page:
[!easy2? &showonly=`folders`!]
[!easy2? &slideshow=`smoothgallery` &ss_config=`timedgallery` &w=`100` &h=`75` &resize_type=`shrink`!]

|+Acura-NSX
- photo
- photo
- photo
+Alfa-Romeo

And what you would like to have when people click the Acura link?
Btw,
You can hide the Easy 2 title, by set the Config > Thumbnail > Breadcrumb’s Settings > Home crumb > Off
Or add the snippet’s parameter: &crumbs_showHome=`0`

Are these on the same page?

Yes, I have two calls of the snippet on one page. Now when people click the Acura link slideshow opens, but the crumbs disappear.
I want to make the crumbs, so the user can return to browsing folders from slideshow,s page.

How about this:
1. use the
Redirect Link
2. Each of the folders (Acura-Legend, Acura-NSX, Alfa-Romeo, etc) have redirect links to a MODx resources (eg: [~53~], [~54~], [~56~])
3. where those resources have [!BreadCrumbs? &homeId=`##`!] snippet to the parent resources where the [!easy2? &showonly=`folders` &use_redirect_link=`1`!] exists.
4. where each of those resources has [!easy2? &gid=`##` &slideshow=`smoothgallery` &ss_config=`timedgallery` &w=`100` &h=`75` &resize_type=`shrink`!] to each gallery’s ID.

My computer is off, but try [+easy2:fid+]. I believe I made that new placeholder for HTML headers.
