Newbie with questions

Hello,

I’m a newbie and is this where I post my questions?

[Moderator note: No. I’ve split it out for you.]

It’s 2:25 am and I’m feeling particularly dense, so pardon me if I’m in the wrong place.

I began my search for a CMS to make life easier, and finally, after even buying Expression Engine, I think I’m going to go with MODx. But the problem is lack of technical skills with writing code. The CSS part is coming along okay and XHTML is easier than making tables and sorting through exceedingly long pages...but that’s another story.

These are the things that I most need, are there plug-ins for the following with MODx:

Web Directory
Calendar

If there are, can you post links?

Can I hire someone to integrate my favorite gallery script (ZenPhoto). I love it too much to give it up.

And, is there something called Template Override or the ability to assign a different template to the home page than to the rest of the pages?

Thanks for your help.

As far as your last question, you can assign a template to a page when you edit it. There is a select menu that lets you choose which template you want for that page. Of course, you have to have the template installed first.
