    I’m running the following:

    Hardened-PHP Version 4.3.10/0.2.6
    Linux web2 2.4.29
    Apache/1.3.33 (Unix)

I’ve created a role, "Communications" with the following permissions:

    Change Password
    Create New Documents
    Edit a Document
    Save a Document
    View Unpublished Documents
    Use the File Manager

I’ve created a User, assigned that role. I’ve created user and document groups and assigned appropriately.

I can log in as the user in Firefox with no problem. But, when I try to log in using IE, the page hangs, and never opens up.

Second question. Any user (manager) can edit a document if it’s a public document?

    Thanks!

I think testing on the latest SVN trunk will tell us a lot if this is a bug with the Hardened PHP or if it’s one of those fun corner cases that remain in 0.9.2.x

legatissima, I have had a strange issue which is very similar to yours, but with 0.9.5 RC2.
It’s occuring only on one particular PC running IE6 / Win XP SP2 (I’ll check rev number later and publish here). I have experienced no problem with two other PCs running the same OS, same browser and same antivirus... As I said I’ll check the browser exact rev to understand this...

My guess is it’s purely platform/browser related and has nothing to do with your server / PHP version, neither with the manager account settings...
