Maybe it’s too late and I just don’t see it, but I’ve gone over and over the admin setup screens and don’t see anywhere to turn off the auto-registration feature. I’m using 0.9.5 rc2. I created a static request-an-account.html and linked it to a 503 page, but I’d rather turn it off in the software if that’s possible.

There is no "auto-registration". There has to be a document with the WebSignup snippet called in it. If you don’t want that, just delete the document. Or edit it to make it something else.

maybe what he meant is after the registration, the user is not eligible to log in right away, activation or approval from the admin is required. Is that what you meant?

sottwell’s right. there is no feature. it’s a link to the snippet from the home page. i had installed the sample website with 0.9.5rc2 with friendly urls, and the sample home page had a bullet with a link to mysite/request-an-account.html. that page lets users "Sign Up for Full Site Privileges." i edited the document and removed the link. i will probably remove the snippet because people can enter mysite/request-an-account.html and run the snippet.

You can just unpublish that document as well; though you will still be able to access it when logged into the manager, public users will not be able to access it. That way you can work on it without exposing it...
