What’s happened to "Visitor Stats" and "Visitors now browsing" features?

Gone. The built-in stats were very inefficient, and caused a lot of problems.
That is a big shame. Inefficient maybe, but the stats could be disabled. Both features were major ’selling’ points to my clients. sad

And very useful for determining that a contact form was being used as a spam relay on one of my client sites. This release looks fantastic, and I applaud you all for your hard work. But I have to say removal of this, which could be disabled anyway, is not a good move in my opinion.

But as I have not been reviewing the forum much in the last months, I’m sure I may have missed a some threads noting the problems with these features to prompt their removal.

Dev Team Note: The built in stats actually causes some busy sites to become functionally useless and at best, perform horribly. They were not good, despite being quite convenient I agree! AWStats, Google Analytics, Mint, Slimstats and a few others perform better and offer better insight into what’s really going on with a site.

Try www.statscounter.com as an alternative. Works nicely and the free version (maximum functionality, small log size) produces enough stats for most small business/hobby site needs.

Google analytics is "FREE" and "PIMP" (two great features for analytics)... and there is a MODx plug-in built for it http://modxcms.com/Google-Analytics-862.html"" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">here... How much simpler can you get.
