    The uograde seemed to go smoothly, but now there’s a blank page where my homepage should be sad
    And when I try to access login page for the manager I get this error:

    Warning: fopen() [function.fopen]: Unable to access /opt/guide/www.site.nl/HTML/nieuw/manager/media/style//login.html in /opt/guide/www.site.nl/HTML/nieuw/manager/includes/accesscontrol.inc.php on line 83

    It looks like something’s going wrong when the manager style is selected... look at the double slashes in the first rule.
    Any ideas? Please?

    I used PaulGregory’s instructions for upgrading as described here: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,8587.0.html
    When I change the names of manager-old etc back to their old names, the site seems ok again - but the manager looks all weird (no stylesheet I guess). And the top menu frame is gone.

    Edit: this is not yet a production site, so it’s not such a big deal. I think I’ll do a clean install for this one. However, if this *had* been a live site, I would be in very serious trouble now. So I think this issue is worthy of some attention... It might happen to others.

      Try this and tell me if it works. Open up the /manager/index.php file and find the following lines:

      // include_once the style variables file
      if(isset($manager_theme) && !isset($_style)) {
          $_style = array();
          include_once "media/style/".$manager_theme."/style.php";
      }

      Now, cut and paste this section just above the following lines:

      // accesscontrol.php checks to see if the user is logged in. If not, a log in form is shown
      include_once "accesscontrol.inc.php";

      My guess is that your PHP configuration is causing a problem. It’s possible that the accesscontrol.inc.php script is using a blank $manager_theme variable due to it not being instantiated before the call for it. So...modify the index.php file and see if that does the trick. If so, I’ll submit it as a permanent fix. If not...well..back to the drawing board! smiley

        Maybe a stupid question, but did you run the installer after upgrading the files? I did get similar problems when upgrading one site, but after running the installer again it worked fine.

          Hi, thanks for your replies.
          Jeff, I added those lines, but no changes sad
          I think now I’m going to delete everything MODx for this site and start again with a full install. Fortunately I hadn’t started building this one; right after I installed 0.9.2. I heard about 0.9.5. so I upgraded right away. Still, I’m very hesitant right now to upgrade my other MODx site, which is up and running already... (and running smoothly, I might add smiley ).
          Uncle68: yes, I did run the installer. Twice, actually. Hmm... I might try one last time, having nothing to lose and all...

            Right. I tried one last thing, which worked grin and it might be interesting for others. Here it is:
            In this thread: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,8587.0.html, PaulGregory said:
            Rename the new folders/files to "index.php-new", "manager-new", "assets-new". Don’t rename "install".
            Upload them (and install). This takes a while.
            Run yoursite.com/install in your browser.
            Switch the names of the existing folders/files to "index.php-old", "manager-old", "assets-old".
            From this point, your site is not working.
            Change the names of the newfolders/files to "index.php", "manager", "assets".
            From this point, your site should be working again.
            I did that and got into trouble. However, I just ran the installer again, but I switched things around: I first changed the names of the old folders to manager-old etc, then changed "manager-new" into "manager" (etc) and after that I ran the installer. Now everything looks fine cool

            By the way the new manager looks nice and shiny, but perhaps a little low-contrast? Very professional, though, and it seems faster, too grin

              Sweet! Sounds like you had a problem of files not being overwritten when you did the upgrade. I personally like to kill (delete) everything but what needs to stay first then upload the new files and directories. Alot of times I’ll just upload a temporary index.html file that tells visitors I’m upgrading. That way I can safely delete everything but the config.inc.php file and anything I need to keep in the assets directory. I usually modify the .htaccess file so that the index.html is the only default file type. Once I’m satisfied that everything works then I’ll simply upload the correct .htaccess file and everything goes back to normal. smiley

                Thanks for that. Am reordering advice elsewhere.
                  No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.

                  If anyone gets this problem again — that’s how I solved it: in the error it says that the file is missing. But this missing file actually should not be there. That file is related to Modx styles and it seems to me that ModX had a problem finding which style it needs (and the style name should be placed between two slashes going one after another, see error). Basically, to fix that I moved contents of manager/media/style/MODxLight to it’s parent directory manager/media/style/. Then I could access the manager itself, even though it was looking not as it was supposed to look like. When I changed the style in MoDx configuration to another one, everything went well. Hope that helps!

                    My solution was like the Daedalus ’s one. There is no matter for ModX to do this, but the solution is simple.
