Embedding phpicalendar.net - using a php calendar

I’m working on my 3rd modx site. This time, I’m volunteering my time for a non-profit organization and they would love to list their events on a calendar (synchronized with google calendar).

After much research, I found the phpicalendar is what I need.
I found an html solution:

But when I try to put the code into a snippet so that the calendar will display in my template. I get an error. Has anyone tried integrating phpicalendar in their modx site?

I think Thyme Calendar is pretty cool (pretty web1.0 but is really flexible)
