    I am totally new to this and LOVING this app but still stumped by a few things. I think I’ve read nearly every page in the whole forum and can’t find the answer so I hope I didn’t miss it... Problem : I have a header in my main template with a graphic menu (fireworks table, rollovers, etc.) and am trying to create links to pages I have created and can see in the preview mode, based on their ID and the suggested tag of [~ID#~] but the links get me a not found message (instead of my error page which is also there and seems to be correct but doesn’t show up when it’s supposed to!) :

    "The requested URL /modx/teakettle_contact.html was not found on this server"

    The docs are there in the tree, have been edited and previewed; "contact" is in a folder named "Company". The home page is at http://www.teakettlepress.com/modx/ if you’d like to check it out live. I suspect that there is a path issue but can’t figuire it out. The page I’m linked to is ID# 16, named "contact" with an alias of "contact" and my suffix is "teakettle_". Friendly URLs and aliases (but not alias paths) are on. I’m having absolutely NO other problems whatsoever. Aaaaaarrrgggh! huh

    Here is the actual code for the graphic link :

    <td><a href="[~16~]" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage(’tab7’,’’,’/modx/assets/templates/teakettle/menu/rollovers/tab7.gif’,1)"><img name="tab7" src="/modx/assets/templates/teakettle/menu/images/tab7.gif" width="80" height="40" border="0" id="tab7" alt="How to reach us" /></a></td>

      in your .htaccess, have you defined "RewriteBase /modx"

        Assuming that the .htaccess file should be in the MODx directory top level (as it was in the download), yes I have; my site structure is public/modx/ so I edited "RewriteRule" (I didn’t find "RewriteBase" except in the notes at the top of the sample .htaccess file) to be : RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /modx/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]. No go. Am I doing something obviously wrong? Thanks for the quick response.... I’m really turning into a 100% MODx fan. Wow!

          huh Me again… The minute I activate the default .htaccess file inside the MODx directory, which is a subdirectory of my site root, I loose all connection with the site (no manager, no homepage). I tried adding the htaccess code into the root .htaccess with numerous path variations to the subdirectory by no go. Here is the code in the site root .htaccess file, which appears to be quite standard on different servers :

          # -FrontPage-

          IndexIgnore .htaccess */.??* *~ *# */HEADER* */README* */_vti*

          <Limit GET POST>
          order deny,allow
          deny from all
          allow from all
          </Limit>
          <Limit PUT DELETE>
          order deny,allow
          deny from all
          </Limit>
          AuthName domain.com
          AuthUserFile /services/webpages/t/e/domain.com/public/_vti_pvt/service.pwd
          AuthGroupFile /services/webpages/t/e/domain.com/public/_vti_pvt/service.grp

          Not being a for-real programmer, am I not seeing something obvious here that would prevent the .htaccess in my MODx directory from functioning to allow friendly URLs? I am in the 0.9.2 version and noticed that the new beta DOES contain a RewriteBase reference as well as some other options; should I try this one? Like some of the others, I have tried every possible variation of the path name… I am now going to try disabling friendly URLs to see what happens with my poor links.

          Okay, re-posting this; I shut off Friendly URLs and voilà que ça marche; it works; but how do I make it work WITH FURLs? And I have not reactivated the .htaccess in the MODx directory either. Frustration!
