What I need is pretty straight-forward - as follows:

    * Heart of the site is Discussion Forums, and I am very familiar with SMF. In fact one of the questions is - does the bridge/integration between SMF <=> ModX result in any problems with implementing the many modifications available for SMF?
    * It appears that the SMF installation here is not entirely ’wrapped’ inside the ModX system. Is it possible to incorporate a comprehensive wrapper which creates a seamless appearance and navigation between SMF and ModX?
    * Does ModX have the following capabilities:
    - Wiki integration (such as dokuWiki for Joomla)
    - Document/File Repository (such as DocMan for Joomla)
    - Reviews (such as Mosets Tree for Joomla)
    - Newlestter (such as Letterman for Joomla)
    - Learning Management facility (for Quizzes)

As you might guess, I am currently trying to manage a site using Joomla/SMF and numerous other extensions. I am frustrated beyond belief - in part because the host I use (which is a VERY good hosting company), has their Apache configuration set in such a way that permissions for packages installed by the Joomla ’backend’ are *always* problematic - ALWAYS. It makes administering the site a nightmare - AND - trying to implement ANY of the many SMF modification is simply impossible (except manually - which is yet another nightmare).

I am looking at ModX because it appears to offer a lot - but I first need to KNOW that it will accomplish what I need function-wise.

    TIA
