Hey all! I’m pretty new to MODx but I’m convinced that it is the CMS of the future. I’ve been using Joomla earlier but for small sites it feels like overkill.

You have probaly heard this a thousand times but I’m getting pretty frustrated over here, since being a newbie! I’m trying to get frontediting to work. I see some previous posts about the subject, but I can’t nail a definitive answer. I have a MODx website which containts some restricted document for members only. While I want QuickEdit to edit documents in the frontend I have to make members Manager Users, we all know that. This works fine, with the Manager Login. However, I can’t access the restricted documents unless being a Web User. Even if i login in as Admin I can’t access those documents. What am I missing here? It’s obvious that this is a permission issue. Can I do this in a better way? Like using TV’s to edit the content instead of QuickEdit?

As for now, I made the restricted documents public to access them. Sometimes I set the documents access permssions to a specific document group but the public can access them anyway.

By the way, similar QuickEdit button (click on it and the content turns to a textarea) as in this forum would be great.

Have you tried adding your manager users to the same protected doc group?

Yes. I have Manager Users linked to a certain Doc Group which grant access to this protected document.
