I understand the whole CSS as a document, but I was confused by Susan’s statement:

Bottom line, TVs won’t work in a CSS document.

Does this mean TV’s WON’T work in a CSS ’document’? Or that you just can’t have a snippet as the value for any TV’s in the CSS?

I followed the instructions David posted, and proceeded to test it as-is, with-out any TV’s. But when I tested it, all CSS was dropped.

TVs aside, this should work. Be careful to make sure every step is checked (blank template for css, modify document type for you css document, FURLs on with the appropriate setting, append .css at the end of alias manually... etc).

What do you mean by "all CSS was dropped" ?

I double checked all steps, and it still does not work.

Indeed http://throughmylensphotography.com/css/default.css gives me a blank page...

I guess you already have checked your .htaccess... what’s your config ?

                  Here is my .htaccess file:

                  # MODx supports friendly URLs via this .htaccess file. In order to use it, you must change the
                  # file name from ht.access to .htaccess. If you don't want to use friendly URLs, you can comment
                  # the three Rewrite directives out with pound signs (like the beginning of this line).
                  #
                  # Make sure RewriteBase points to the directory where you installed MODx.
                  # E.g., "/" if your installation is in your root web documents directory (it comes this way by
                  # default) or "/MODx" if your installation is in a MODx subdirectory, per the comments below. You
                  # must serve web pages via Apache with mod_rewrite to be able to use this functionality.
                  #
                  # The last two blocks of rules at the bottom of this .htaccess file address anamolies with IE
                  # for Windows PCs and the way in which it caches images, which causes a distracting flicker in
                  # background images when links are hovered on the page.
                  #
                  # The output compression directives immediately below serve to speed up delivery of web pages,
                  # and may also be optionally commented out.

David, I’ll give you an admin MODx login, if you would like.

It seems you’ve done everything properly... If you can PM me an admin login, I can have a look at your MODx set up but I am afraid though I can’t much help on server config, not really my field :/

The original solutions for the CSS as document method were Susan’s and Eastbind’s, I merely started the whole IE investigation and afterwards wrote the tutorial...
