    Hey folks,

Is there a plugin/snippet that would allow an uploaded Word doc or pdf to be viewed as html, like in Google search results?

    The basic idea is this:
    * some users can upload documents (found a snippet for that here)
    * other users can read/review docs, if they have permissions (which i dunno is possible in ModX)
    * documents can be downloaded or viewed as html

I’m looking more at Joomla for this, but since I prefer working with ModX I have some small hopes of it being possible with ModX instead.

    Thank you, as always.

If you can find a PHP script that does this, it can be done in MODx.

To the best of my knowledge, most Word file ->HTML conversions are based around running things through Google, which is not going to be any use if you want to secure the files.

If you can point me to a solution in Joomla, there may be something that can be done, but I don’t believe it can be done in Joomla either.
No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.

I haven’t found a solution for Joomla either. I did find something called Servoo for a french CMS called Lodel, but that’s about it. No luck on hotscripts.com. I think the security issue is enough to make the option not feasible. (unfeasible? infeasible?)

aside from that, is it possible to make user permissions in ModX yet to fulfill the other requirements?
