    Hello,

I’m having problems getting newspublisher to work when I have friendly alias paths set to yes, is there any way to get this working?

    Many thanks for any pointers,

    Sian

Can you be more specific? kind of problem, error message? your server environment information? ...

      regards.

        Hello,

I’m not getting an error when I switch friendly alias paths on, it just stops working - hit submit to publish the blog through the front end, it doesn’t create a new page instead it just goes to the home page, with a mixed up friendly url (eg. area1/create-new-page/area1/create-new-page.html)

So you might see what I’m up to the structure is as follows -

        area 1 -
        - area 1 blog
        - create a new area 1 blog page

        area 2 -
        - area 2 blog
        - create a new area 2 blog page

If I switch off friendly alias paths it works OK - the new page is created within the correct area but the URL will just read - www.site.com/*id* whereas I would really want it to be www.site.com/area1/blog.html

I was wondering if it’s anything to do with absolute paths being needed when friendly alias paths switched on?

Hope this makes sense! Too much coffee doesn’t help concentration!

        Thanks,
        S

You mean Ditto/Newslisting links? can you post the code of your Ditto/Newslisting tpl?

Sorry do you mean this, I’m using Newlistings -

            [[NewsListing? &startID=`37` &summarize=`3` &total=`3` &trunc=`0` &comments=`0`]]

I haven’t changed anything within the Newslisting snippet.

Just incase here is the NewsPublisher call I’m using -
            [!NewsPublisher? &folder=`37` &canpost=`Site Admins, Publishers, News Editors` &formtpl=`FormBlog` &makefolder=`1` &rtcontent=`tvblogContent`!]
I have just altered the snippet so publish is set to 0, so that a publisher can go in, check the content and then publish it through the backend.

It works fine with alias paths switched off but really for this site to work I need alias paths on - lots of areas so want people to use www.site.com/area/page. As soon as I switch alias paths on - you can login and start making the blog entry blog however when you click submit it doesn’t create the new page.

            Hope I’m making sense!

Thanks for your help with this.

Ok you don’t use custom tpl for Newslisting wink what version of NewsListing, what version of NewsPublisher, and what version of MODx are you using? grin

what site template are you using? have you put <base href="[(site_url)]" /> inside your template?

                Hello,

                * Snippet Name: NewsListing
                * Version: 4.4

                #  Snippet Name: NewsPublisher
                #  Version: 1.4
                #  Modified: December 13, 2005
                #

                Modx version  - 0.9.2.1

The template I’m using is one I have built myself, I hadn’t got  <base href="[(site_url)]" /> within the head of the template but have now, tested with alias paths on and still get a page not found.

I wasn’t sure about using one custom tpl to newspublisher and newslistings as I need to have them running within different areas and easy for people to change the folder/start id’s when they create a new area (within the page they are looking at rather than them playing with templates). However if there is a better way of doing it point me in the right direction and I’ll give it a try! smiley

Thanks so much for your help

All I can think of with this is that it’s to do with redirect / post ID.

Has anyone looked into this before or know of another way of getting alias paths working with newspublisher?

                  huh

OK. I have 2 problems with this.

                    1) with friendly alias paths switched on when you submit the blog item it fails, no new item is created - anyone know of this bug?

                    2) with friendly alis paths switched off a new item is created but redirects to a page not found, so have to go page manually - any way round this happening?

                    Many thanks,
                    Sian
