    Hello together,

i have to set up a multidomain website for a nonprofit organisation and i decide to use modx for this job.

    Scenario:
One domain (here called www.churchdistrict.com) should be masterdomain, and there are 15 another domains (church1.com, church2.com, church3.com .... ), in this project.
Each churchdomain gots it own content (handled by modx through this domain), but there is content wich should be shown on each site (like a eventcalendar for example), this eventcalendar should be used for three kinds of events (districtevent, churchevent for the district and churchevent). And there is content wich will be released from the district for all churchdomains and can (not must!) be used from the churchdomains (for example "faq’s" or other stuff).

    A few questions,

first of all, do you think modx is the right thing for this job?
do you think it is possible to set up a domain for the events (like events.churchdistrict.com) and handle each event like a article, set them with flags and grab them into the sides wich want to use them?
you think its possible to keep content on a central place and use it in each domain when needed?
am i thinking to complicated? or not complicated enough?

    Thank you,

    Markus

P.S.: Sorry for my horroble English

Without hacking the core, this probably is not a good fit for MODx right now. This will work in a future version however (no ETA available, but most likely not this year).

I’ve personally got no suggestions, but I’m sure someone will chime in quite quickly. smiley Best of luck!

Can’t give you direct experience advice, but Drupal has a multi-site functionality that might work for you, even allowing sharing databases across domains.

That said, Drupal does have a fairly steep learning curve, and your ability to implement what you are wanting may require at least a moderate degree of php/mysql background. There are also modules for groups that might be useful. I’d at least recommend taking a look at drupal.org. That is the only other CMS I have any real experience with, very limited at that, so there certainly may be others and better choices.
