Generally speaking, if you need a php script for the outside world, use a snippet, if it is needed only for the backend (manager) a module might be more appropriate.

plugins are just snippets of pure php that are automatically executed on certain events (onWebPagePreRender, OnSnipFormRender, et...).

Before you write your own shopping cart, you may want to take a look at ShopX

and see what has been developed there.

Sorry, we are still working on getting all the resources here localized into the repository.
See the first post on the first page of this forum.
Susan Ottwells post says "Latest package available attached here."
then at the end of this first post there is a link that says "ShopX-2.5.zip (12.37 KB - downloaded xxxx times.)"
Click that link to download the files. Support questions for that resource should be posted in that forum.
I appologize, I thought finding it would be more straight forward. thanks for your patience.

ok - will try thx alot for your help

today i worked with the system first time and its quite ok to work with it - but i have to admit that there should be some more documents or easier-to-find-documents (cause i didnt found em) to the modx cms cause it seems very powerful and very costumizable...

but i didnt found something bout using classes are already written, like db query and outputs

a question i have - is it possible to use templates in snippets?

so i make myself a snippet and have the layout completly in the template - dont wanna mix it and have i want my snippets/modules and all the other things completly free of html code - otherwise i would have to go trough the code everytime i need the scripts

Examine Wayfinder for a great way to learn to mix code (snippets) and external "templates" (chunks).
