    Hi all,

I appreciate I’m a noob but I would really like to attempt to integrate the PHP-Tag engine into a ModX site - http://phptagengine.com/wiki/HowTo and would appreciate some advice on how to go about it?

I know this is a really broad question, but any advice on the feasibility of this would be much appreciated?

I envisage using this within a snippet and calling the contents via a TV.

    Cheers,

    Steve

It is indeed a broad question. PHP Tag Engine appears to be something that can be added to an application to provide tag support but only insofaras managing the list of associated tags goes - ie it handles tags for an item, but not items for a tag.

So I have to ask how you specifically wish to use this with MODx, and also what it is that attracts you to this particular set of classes.
No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.

Kinda like asking how you would go about integrating steel and rubber into an automobile.

Thanks for th replies, I appreciate them considering my broad ill phrased question wink

In terms of how I envisaged using and integrating this; I hope to create a snippet that will allow users to submit content that will generate pages in Modx, I was kindly pointed in the direction of the various class and api libraries in the repository to achieve this (DocManager seems appropriate).

On submit I would like users to tag the content; whilst I can create a TV to store this data (I think?) I like the idea of an AJAX front end to minimise the way in which Tags can often become unruley and random - so I see distinct UI advantages of the "google suggest" style front end.

Being new to web development, creating this type of interface is probably beyond me, especially whilst not knowing the ins and outs of the ModX architecture. I had hoped that the Tag Engine approach would assist in this respect, due to its isolated architecture.

Regarding your point about pulling content from a Tag Paul - I must say I’ve not considered it in great detail - I had assumed I could maybe include a database call in a TV and have that processed by Ditto somehow.

Maybe this is a completely pointless, unfeasable idea, and I must admit it came about on a whim as much as anything.

          The feedback is appreciated.

          Cheers,

          Steve
