What would be the reason for designing a site so that it is XHTML 1.0 Strict rather than XHTML 1.0 Transitional? I’ve started a site using Strict and for everything created by hand it is easy. But FCKEditor cannot generate output that is compliant with the Strict version. Should I just give up and go back to Transitional?

Well, that’s the eternal question indeed... it’s true even of transitionnal page, I am afraid. There is so many things that can break validation...
Maybe
HTML purifier is part of the solution.
My take about this is, the cleaner your code is to begin with, the better. Now if the code gets screwed up by a WYSIWYG editor, it means your website won’t validate but it still going to be built upon clean grounds. There is not much you can do about it, except teaching Textile / Markdown or HTML to your clients...

Thanks for the reply. I guess using a WYSIWYG editor is a compromise. Maybe there is enough talent in the MODx community to take one of the current RTEs and customize it for MODx to generate css and well as html and therefore make it compliant.
Andy
If we manage to pull that one off, we’ll have the first standard compliant RTE !
Still looking for it, in fact...
