i there any way for me to rename the "manager" folder? maybe change it to "admin" or something? this is due to my webhost reserving the name "manager" for jsp server. thus everytime im trying to access my manager, i will be redirected to jsp server 404 error.

i really want to try out modx, seems interesting! i hope maybe someone can help me list the stuff i need to change to make this possible..

    thanks in advance

It is doable, but it requires that you use a good text editor to search through all of the files in the manager directory and replace "manager" with "admin" (or whatever you like). You can’t do this without reviewing each replacement, however, or you’ll end up replacing text that shouldn’t be changed. In future MODx releases, you may have the ability to change the name more easily.

Another (quicker and easier) option that you could try is to install MODx in a subdirectory. Then you would administer it from "modx/manager/" (or whatever you want to call your subdirectory), which shouldn’t conflict with your server settings. You can still create friendly URLs that don’t show this subdirectory, so maybe that’s the best way to try it out.

      Hope that helps.

YAY! followed your suggestion and now it’s working properly! but what am i suppose to do to get the friendly urls so that it wont show this subdirectory, and instead show the root?

If you’re using Apache, edit your .htaccess file to include the subdirectory and copy it to the root directory. If you’re not using Apache... Use Apache!
