I’m planing on using mod_rewrite to help me generate the urls for a number of non-existent pages, for example I have several "Makers" of stuff: Make1, Make2, Make3... and under each Maker a number of models ModelA, ModelB, ModelC ... There are thousands of Maker and Model combinations but all the resulting pages use the same information just the placeholders are replaced.

When a user visits the address www.testsite.com/Make1/ModelA they will be taken to a page where the placeholders Make and Model are replaced with something like "You are viewing Make1 stuff, here is their ModelA information"

the URLs will look like this:
    www.testsite.com/Make1/ModelA
    www.testsite.com/Make1/ModelB
    www.testsite.com/Make1/ModelC

    www.testsite.com/Make2/ModelA
    www.testsite.com/Make2/ModelB
    www.testsite.com/Make2/ModelC
    and so on...

I am looking at a way of showing a list of most popular pages requested, from the above URLs, something like a Top 20 list with links to the actual page. However since the pages don’t actually exist in the menu tree I am trying to figure out a way to acomplish the most popular pages listing.

    Any pointers?

    Thanks for reading.
