Hi,
I’m new to MODx but I’m pretty OK with figuring thins out and have been managing a few sites using Nucleus so I’m not totally unfamiliar with things either.
I’m using the default FCKeditor and am having problems setting up a link to another page. I can’t figure out how to format the link.
I’m using friendly URLs, with nothing in the prefix, using friendly aliases, using friendly aliases paths, I do not allow duplicates, I automatically generate aliases.
I have both the .htaccess files set up correctly.
So, my question is when I highlight the text where my hyperlink should go click to get the link page what do I put? Is it: [?id=x] and do i use the http:// protocol
I know this is pretty basic, but I just can’t seem to see the answer looking through the forums and docs.
Your help is appreciated.
Kindest Regards

I think the protocol should be none and put [~6~] to the url field where 6 is the ID of the document you want to link to. If you are willing to switch to using Tiny MCE, look at
MODxLink plugin.

Doze,
Thanks for your quick response. Worked perfectly.
I would like to try the Tiny MCE. I’m really really lost on trying to install this plug in. I now have a path that looks like this: /assets/plugins/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/modxlink/ but I go the manager section and see no where to require this as a plug-in.
In fact, I do not see anywhere on my manager where to add or change plug-ins. What am I blind to? I know I need glasses, but usually after some searching I can find what I’m looking for. No such luck here.

Just to make sure, you did install
Tiny MCE plugin itself before installing the modxlink to it?

Doze,
Dah no...I thought that was included with the ModXLink stuff.
Ok...so I downloaded the zip
installed it to the public html directory, the same place I put ModX, so the tinyMCE folder and the manager folder are in the directory.
When I run the tinyMCE/install, I get the following error:
Setup will now attempt to setup the database:
Warning: main(../manager/includes/config.inc.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/health/domains/high-fructose-corn-syrup.info/public_html/tinyMCE/install/instprocessor.php on line 14
Warning: main(): Failed opening ’../manager/includes/config.inc.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/health/domains/high-fructose-corn-syrup.info/public_html/tinyMCE/install/instprocessor.php on line 14
Creating connection to the database: Database connection failed!
Please check the database login details and try again.
I have checked and there is a file in the /manager/includes config.inc.php
The info in the file is the same needed to get into the sql database.
Where the heck am I going wrong now? I can’t believe that I can be so bad at this.

Please post your issues with Tiny MCE plugin to it’s support thread and you will get better help. You can find to the suppor thread for example from the resource page (there’s a link at the top of the page).
