setting up required sections of modx site

ok on my basic site there are a few things i would like.
a guide to these items would be great (and might help others starting out as well)

for my site i need:


A gallery - such as the one on this site - http://www.frozenminds.com/gallery.html
This is nice and simple (and pretty) although i have a standalone gallery 2 so an example of a working gallery 2 intergration might be nice

A Blog - more like wordpress i think, it needs to be distinct to that of news & articles (all of which look the same at the moment - certaintly that you can edit and post from the website itself

Rss feed reader - ideally i want something like the one running on my curretn (xoops) site http://www.80110x.com/modules/xhld1/

A downloads section - with simple management

A links database - again with simple management

I think essentially i want a kit of the best bits and better guides on how to use them than the downloads information - also it would be useful to see those downloadables in a demo form so you know what you are getting before you start hacking around.

I know this is a bitof a big wish list, but i’m sure many others have wished for the same things.

Some tips:

Gallery - MaxiGallery.
Blog - there are numerous options, but I think you need to look at styling the output to distinguish blog posts from news posts rather than finding an entirely new solution.
RSS reader - NewsParserX.
Downloads - can’t recall title but there is one.
Links DB - there might not be one of these yet; obviously you can just put links onto a page. What more do you want there?

as for the links db, I was thinking something like a form to enter the data that populates a predefined page layout for links.

i think thats what i mean

more of a user editable data entry thing

that gallery you are talking about on the page you linked to is no gallery at all....it looks to me link a standard page with imgs on it.

try EPG2....i found it very handy and it worked well.

hmm well thanks to paul for the info - i got the gallery to work fine (after digging around for the snipet code)
