Ok....
- I’ve been managing the system with only the administrative default account.
- I prepare for a client demo by creating a Role, called Editor, and assigning permissions to it.
- I create accounts with the role Editor for my clients
- We all log in.
- The system won’t allow them to change the template of a document.
- I edit the roles to allow their role editing of templates, thinking this might solve it. It doesn’t.
- I have them log out and clear cookies.
- NOW NOONE CAN LOG IN, INCLUDING the admin user ID#1. The correct passwords are used, but the system doesn’t recognize them as correct.
thanks. modx 0.9.2
Heh....sorry all. Ignore the login issue...it was my mistake.
Everybody laugh at me.
However this issue remains...
for some reason, only the superadmin can change the template of a doc while creating that doc.
when any other user attempts to change a document’s template, the access denied error pops up.
thanks.

This is a known behavior for which I have filed
a bug report.
Read the details about this and you’ll have a detailed answer
But to make long story short, it has to do with the fact that a newly created document is created at the root of the document tree, unless you right click a folder and define a parent from the start.
You need to do one of three things :
- Administration > System Configuration > User Settings : Allow Root Creation must be set to Yes (something you might not want to do, and rightly so)
- instruct your users to right click on the folder they need to create the document into
- update to 0.9.5 beta (this has been solved since rev 1295)
