Hi there,
Having a little trouble miating a modx site to a new host....eres what I ave done so far:
Moved all site files to new host.
Set up new DB to mirror old one.
Changed config file to new details.
The above allows me to view my site, however all the links are broken due to the new host being windows. I tried setting the friendly_urls = 0 in the DB but it did’nt work?
The second problem is I cannot login to the manager. If i put in my username and password the page simply posts back and goes nowhere....no errors no nothing??
I have snce changed all the system setting in the DB to mirror the new windows host...however i still cant login and my friendly url’s are still in operation!!
Any ideas
Cheers,
Justin

I run Windows hosting co, pretty sure you need to update some details in phpmyadmin,
the table modx_system_settings comes to mind
You will need to change this values:
1. rb_base_dir
(it will be like c:\domains\yourdomain.com etc check with your host proivder)
2. rb_base_url
(the url for the site this shouldnt really change unless you moved the modx directory)
my two settings are:
rb_base_dir c:/domains/spcs.eu/wwwroot/assets/
Edit Delete rb_base_url http://www.spcs.eu/assets/
Hi aron,
I already changed the setting in the DB to reflect the new structure of windows hosting.....
Its just really weird....if I put incorrect details in and post I get a javascript alert telling me the wrong details were entered....so at least i know it going to the database to search....but just will not re-direct to the manager?
Anyone?
Cheers,
Justin.

Hmm quite strange,
Does your site pages load ok now? I’m wondering if mysql had the admin user session record when you exported it.
Aaron
Hi aron
my pages do load ok...but for some reason my friendly urls are still enabled. I have switched this off in the DB but they are still there on the front end?
if i go to index.php?id=x I can get to all my pages....and the snippets appear to be working for the most part.
Il check the admin user section....which is where? If I blank it I should be ok to login?
Cheers,
Justin.

Hmmm,
Did you update the database connection details in the config file? It shoulds like modx could be looking at your old mysql database server and not the new one.
A good test would be on your old server export the database again then remove it, then see if your website loads if it is pointing to the old database server it won’t load.

I’ve also checked my database and could not find any session data, i checked my database table:
"modx_system_settings"
with furls on this setting name = 1
friendly_urls = 1
and turned off
friendly_urls 0
Another thing to check would be any httpd.ini or .htaccess file it could be that your host uses an Rewrite module which uses these files.
Im 100% sure it the correct database...as I changed a page in it and the changes were reflected. At this stage im looking at trying an upgrade.......just to get up and running again.

Could you let me know if you find out what the problem was would be interesting to know in future.
Thanks and good luck
Aaron
Well im even more stuck now....I went ahead and upgraded my installation from 9.1 to 9.2 thinking that would sort out this weird login bug....but no.....its stil the same.
When I login a file gets created in the root of my site...something like: sess_554d85cde4592fd572c12ba6d715f2f6
So I know the login script is trying to do something....however the manager is just no kicking in.....might start a new topic as this may not be related to me moving the site at all.....
Cheers,
Justin.
