hello, i was wondering if i can do this with modx
i would like my link structure to look like this
www.myurl.com/pagetitle
so for example if i had a page called about us and contact the urls would look like
www.myurl.com/about
www.myurl.com/contact
so in a nutshell i would like it to work how wordpress does it ... and has directories as links rather than an extention !!
is this possible ? ? and exactly how ??
It’s pretty easy with MODx.
1) You have a ht.access file at the root of the MODx folder. If MODx is installed at the root, then you just have to rename ht.access into .htaccess. If not, you’ll have to edit this line :
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
into
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /folder/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA] (or folder/subfolder... whatever path your install is)
If you’re running 0.9.5 (htaccess has changed) you’ll have to edit this one instead :
RewriteBase /
into
RewriteBase /folder/
(If you’re running 0.9.2.1 you might need to uncomment the lines :
php_flag zlib.output_compression On
php_value zlib.output_compression_level 5
which cause problems with certain hosts).
2) Rename the ht.access file in /manager/ into .htaccess (this is to make sure rewrite rules don’t kick in while in the manager)
3) Go to Tools > Configuration > Friendly URL settings
Then start by selecting "Yes" for the "Use friendly URLs" setting.
4) Edit the various FURLs settings bellow according to your liking (if you have trouble setting those up, don’t hesitate to ask).
You’re set !
