Simple Javascript Micro Slideshow Needed

I’m looking for a simple script that will change the image in an img tag with the following properties:

- fade transitions
- automatic transitions
- XHTML 1.0 strict
- works the same in all browsers

I looked at Dimmy’s and Sottwell’s mini slideshow snippet, but the fade transitions are IE only. I looked at Mooshow, but it doesn’t appear to do automatic transitions. I’m not looking for a snippet, just the javascript that I can turn into a snippet myself.

Any pointers? Thanks.
