    Hello,

First off, thanks to the modx team for a great CMS and the tremendous support the community brings. I have a client that’s a realtor and wants to easily update a house listing. The way I have it implemented right now is I made her a detailed form that e-mails me the information and then I manually update the site. What I would like to implement is a similar form that uses NewsListing to automatically update it to the site. My first enquiry about this was made in the following post:

So apparently, you can have customized templates for the summary. I was wondering if this is possible with the actual blog entry as well. So for example, can I make template variables such as [*squarefeet*], [*garage*], etc and have these output into a customized template for the blog?

Furthermore, as the post above points out, I’m not quite sure how you’re supposed to even have customized forms. I’ve tried creating TV but the form doesn’t appear.

Thank you very much in advance for the support

Maybe I am not understanding, but why not do this:

      1. Each house listing is a seperate document
      2. Display the listings using Ditto
      3. Give the Realtor a login to the manager with permissions to edit documents.

Then the realtor can edit the house listings themselves just by editing the documents.

That’s what I did for one real estate/insurance company. It appears to be working very well.

          Thank you for the replies.

Unfortunately, the client wants the upmost simplicity to update the listings. They want the process to be as simple as possible. Yeah, they can go in and edit the document but they don’t want to have to toy with the positioning of the images and make sure all the listings are consistent. A form that automatically updates the document would be perfect for them.

Well, above all, I’m just wondering if this is even possible with NewsListing. I know e-forms was going towards that directon but I’m not sure how long it’ll be before they implement these kind of functions to that snippet.

With Ditto you can create templates for formatting, so that the listings are consistant. I think you can then use a template variable to specify the image, and position that in the template so that it is consistant.

              Andy,
Thanks for your response. Can you perhaps show me a step-by-step procedure on how I would do that?

As far as I’ve tried, I’m not sure if Ditto can have additional call features for the actual blog entry and not just the summary.
