    I am trying to instal Modx for the first time.

    I go through all the steps, giving the db name, details, etc, run through which bits I want installed, and then when it says "running install script".Then it goes to a page of text that looks like this:

    with nothing else - no way forward, and if I go back and try again, it tells me then that the table prefix is already in use and has failed. Then the only way through is to invent a different prefix name... and it goes wrong again.

    I’m doing it in Firefox 1.5.07 on OS X 4.7. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong and how to get around it?

    ETA: I went through all the files one by one, and the ftp process in my editor had failed - a few sub folders had not uploaded correctly. I used a dedicated ftp program, did the whole thing from scratch, and am now on my way. Thank you smiley

      Okay, so I’m looking at my tables on the db and it all looks like it’s installed and that’s why I’m getting the error message when I try again... but I’m still not able to run anything when I go to the site index.php file. So I was never able to get to this stage on the install:

      When you get to the screen that tells you that some directories are not writeable by the server then on Linux/Unix you will need to CHMOD all the indicated files to be writeable (777). This is pretty easy to do with a good FTP program. The WordPress guide linked to above has a detailed explanation of how to do this as well.

      <confused>

        If you go to your site, "localhost/modx/manager", you don’t get the login form?
