I am moving my (MODx)site to a new server, I get this error while installing MODx..

When I click test connection after entering database details, it shows this message

Connection to host: passed... Checking database: failed - table prefix already in use!
    Why is it so?
My table prefix is src_ . I can see the tables in the database with phpMyAdmin.
Can anyone tell me why this happens?
    Thank you very much.

You can’t run a new installation over top of an existing install. It’s telling you the tables already exist, so you need to run an upgrade installation, not a new install. You must have your /manager/includes/config.inc.php in place, with the new connection details, in order to run an upgrade. Please see http://modxcms.com/moving-sites-to-new-servers.html for additional hints and tips.

        Thanks Jason.
I dumped the sql first and then id a fresh installation of MODx. Maybe after the error messages appeared I went back and started all over again instead of retrying?! embarrassed
        Thanks again.

What errors are you speaking of? The only thing I see posted here is the notice indicating that the installation is already completed (i.e. the table prefix is already in use in the database, because you dumped it in there). When moving servers, you do not need to run the New Installation procedure. You can run an upgrade if you want to (or are changing versions of MODx at the same time), but it is not necessary. Just make sure your original /manager/includes/config.inc.php exists in your new /manager folder, and that it has the new db connection properties for connecting to the db on your new server.

embarrassed Thank you very much, Jason..that took care of it.
What I did was install freshly and then overwrite the /assets and /manager folder. What a waste of time. Its easier now. Thanks.
